What is Service Charge?

Many people have been asking "What is the service charge for?" As you know all services in the hotel are subject to a 10% service charge and a 10% government tax which adds to 21% on items purchased. This is sometimes difficult for the business, since it makes it difficult for us to compete with local bars and restaurants, who are not always subject to the same stringent charges and taxes.

10% of all sales goes into a central kitty and is shared out equally amongst all staff at the end of each month (excluding senior management). Staff therefore have become very dependent on this additional source of income which when the hotel is busy can substantially bring positive impact on their take home pay. So the more you spend, the better off the staff are!!
